Making Education Affordable and Accessible:

Paul grew the Go Blue Guarantee, making a University of Michigan education tuition-free for Michigan families earning up to $125,000 per year. Today:

• 33% of Ann Arbor students attend tuition-free

• 41% of Flint students attend tuition-free

• 50% of Dearborn students attend tuition-free

Advancing Diversity and Opportunity:

​Paul's work has dramatically increased student diversity, helping grow enrollment of students of color by more than 150% to more than 40% of the student body.​

Delivering for Workers:

As the only candidate who has been a union member, Paul is proudly known as the "Union Regent." 

• Passed the country's most powerful pro-union organizing policy

• Doubled the number of campus unions from 9 to 18

• Doubled the number of union employees at UofM from 26% to 50%

• Increased union employees' pay by 47%

Fighting Trump and ICE:

Paul is protecting students, workers, and patients. He established a “sanctuary campus” by prohibiting ICE from accessing campus-controlled property, supported UofM boycotts of companies that work with ICE, and defended patient privacy by refusing to release transgender patients' medical records to the Trump administration. He has also challenged federal policies in court, filing twelve lawsuits against the administration.

Strengthening Michigan’s Economy:

Paul has worked to expand the University’s role as an economic engine for the state. As one of Michigan’s largest employers, the University plays a critical role in creating jobs, supporting local businesses, and driving innovation statewide, while leading on Climate Action.

 

Paul has committed the University to campus-wide carbon neutrality, ensuring Michigan remains a leader in sustainability and climate innovation.
