MEET PAUL

Paul is a native Michigander, born and raised in the Upper Peninsula. From an early age, he learned the values of service to the community and giving back – values which he has carried with him in service to the University of Michigan community and the voters of the state of Michigan.
After earning his B.A. and M.B.A. from U of M, Paul completed his J.D. at Wayne State University and worked as an attorney. He was called to service when he joined the Granholm administration, returning to Michigan as Vice President of Capital Markets at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), where he managed the state’s investment portfolio under the 21st Century Jobs Fund. He later taught finance and entrepreneurship at the U-M College of Engineering as a member of the of the LEO Union.
First elected to the Board of Regents in 2018, Paul has been an active voice for progress on the board, working to support our university working families and to strengthen the legacy of excellence for our students.
Brown also contributes in civic and philanthropic arenas: he sits on the boards of early-stage technology companies, a mutual insurance company, and several nonprofit organizations tied to education, history, youth programs, and economic development in Michigan.
He lives in Ann Arbor with his wife, Nicole, and their two school-aged children.
